Hi pals! We are back today with a little bit different of a blog post, plus a new pattern that was inspired by this yarn (more of that soon). #HobbiiYarnReview
First up I just wanted to call out, this is a #sponsored post, but sponsored meaning they asked if I wanted to review some yarn, let me pick out what I wanted, and sent it to me. 🙂
So let’s get into it and see what I got!
The Yarn
So I picked out quite a variety of yarns for this review. When searching their website I had a few ideas pop into my head and just went with it. We ended up getting two sock yarns, a paper yarn, faux fur yarn, and a sparkly worsted weight yarn.
I also ended up snagging a wooden bottom and leather strap to see about making a bag, but we will talk more about that later on.
Peacock & Starlight
As soon as I saw Peacock on the website I knew this needed to be something Christmas-y, I just needed something to go with it. Insert Starlight. I am OBSESSED with these two together. I was thinking about making a stocking, but these are a little smaller of yardage than I realized (I missed it when ordering, this is on me, not them) and I didn’t have quite enough for a solid stocking, so we changed it up a bit and made some super cute boot cuffs.

The Peacock yarn is INCREDIBLY soft and super easy to work with, and the Starlight yarn has a beautiful sparkle that is super subtle but just enough. I will order more of both of these to actually make that Christmas stocking soon.

Disco Sock & Disco Sock Flower Pop
I’m going to be 100% honest here and say I was incredibly worried about this yarn at first. When opening the package it was a bit scratchier than I would normally choose to work with. Crocheting with it was kind of a mess as well, because the tension kept getting wonky from the yarn catching on my hand, but Oh. My. Goodness. when you wash and dry this yarn it softens up into the coziest of yarns. I am really impressed with how soft this got. It’s still not the softest yarn ever (cashmere is still my favorite, but not for socks lol) but its sturdy and strong and I think that the socks I’m planning on designing are going to be ones we wear for years.

Rafaella
Last, but certainly not least because it’s my favorite, Rafaella. This yarn is something else. First off, its paper. Yeah, paper freaking yarn. It’s tricky to work with at first, because its not as flexy as animal fiber or acrylic yarn is, but it’s not impossible and certainly fun to do.
I paired this with one of Hobbii’s pre drilled basket bottoms and decided to start designing a new tote bag with it. I haven’t finished it yet, but the moment it’s ready for you ill pop it up on here for you to make yourself. I am about half way done, so hopefully by January we will have a new bag design.

So what did I think?
All in all, not going to lie, I just freaking love Hobbii. Yes I am one of their designers, yes I get yarn for free from them in exchange for those designs, but I got this yarn before I was working with them on a consistent basis and I promise, if you like yarn at all, I recommend giving them a shot. Their prices are great, their shipping is fast, and I have yet to have anything ruined/missing in any of my orders.
