Hi pals and welcome to the long awaited April WIP Update! I am so stoked to share with you the projects I’ve been working on recently, and show you one of my newest hobbies!
I have a YouTube video here covering everything, but if you want the links (and discounts!) just scroll down for the details!
This post does contain affiliate links. Well technically it’s my discount code for Knit Picks. You get 15% off. I have no idea if I get anything, I haven’t yet. But I legally have to tell you. Thank you for using them!
April WIPS
Cat Hat

Coming in June, this one is going to be super freaking fun to crochet. The yarn for this sample is Red Door Fiber in “One Hell of a High Lord” (ACOTAR collection from 2022 I think?), but the main design will feature another dyer because there is also going to be a KNIT version, as well as fingerless gloves for both. The crochet cat hat will also have stuffed ears, because, of course it will. 🫣 Like I said, expect these two in late June early July, for free, here on the blog. (Sign up for my newsletter to get it first and a discount on the ad free PDF!)
Cross Stitch

This GORGEOUS pattern is from my darling friend Sleeping Luna Designs Cross Stitch Shop and I am actually quite proud of it, mistakes and all. I got the outline done, realized I effed up part of it (did you know I can’t count?) and then I got discouraged so I haven’t really worked on it. And I can’t see the stitches anymore so I need to get a light to back light it I think? Is that a thing?
Mesh Crochet Cardigan

Y’all. I’ve already designed one cardigan with this yarn, but coming this Fall/Winter I will have ANOTHER cardigan for you in this yarn. The yarn is Knit Picks Dishie Cone (Use Code: AKPSAMB for 15% off!) and I adore it for everything from dishcloths to clothing. This one is going to be very different than the first, and I am SO excited to share it with you. So order a few cones, grab your 5mm hook, and sign up for that newsletter friend <3
Curtsey Collar

This one is a gift for a friend, and I have about 10 rows left until it’s done, but goodness does mohair/kid silk yarn take a LONG time to knit when it’s held single. Anyway, here’s the Ravelry Link, and the yarn is Hobbii Kid Silk.
Curious Crop Top

AHHHH I need to set myself up with a Lord of the Rings marathon so I can knock the rest of this shirt out. I am SO close to finishing the body, I thought I was done but then I realized I had 10 more rows to go. It’s fine, I didn’t cry or anything. Also shoutout to one of my favorite humans on the planet for surprising me with this yarn for my birthday. I still can’t believe I am using it. Here is the Ravelry Link, and the yarn is Reputation (I think it’s discontinued now) by Ruby & Roses
DK Scrap Sock

So technically this pattern is from a book, and then I changed it. But this is the same designer and the same pattern, just not in the book. Ravelry Link. My changes are pretty basic, I just did a yarn over row randomly, a purl row randomly, and I am holding two strands of sock weight yarn together, changing after each “section” (leg, heel, foot, toe). Currently I am hoping I have enough of the blue to go through both socks, but I at least do for the first so it will be cute either way. Yarn, mostly Woolberry Fiber (no longer dying) with a handful of Knit Picks and a touch of random minis from Flock Fiber Festival last summer.
Chaos…

I can’t stop laughing when I look at this photo of a yarn worm of ends and there’s more to it that just this but let me explain. So I had ordered these mini skeins because I had a TON of points in my account and they were cute. I had no clue what to do with them, so I just started crocheting. I made the cutest little pouch/bag thing, and then wanted to make the shoulder strap for it. So I took out my Cordsmith Original and I knit a long cord, then did it two more times, then braided them together. The problem was, I changed colors every few inches, and didn’t weave in the ends before I braided it and secured those ends together. Why? No clue. But here we are. So end weaving party soon I guess! Yarn – Hobbii Mini Skeins (with points)
Neon Skater Skirt

Oh, I’ve been working on this one for a bit now, but it’s because I keep frogging it to rework the increases. This will eventually be a skater skirt to match the crochet crop top I made with this yarn last year, but again, I CAN’T MATH, so it’s taking a bit longer than normal. This one will have a tutorial too because I do a folded band with elastic and it’s so freaking tricky imo. Yarn: Quarter Cakes Yarn in Sparkleverse DK (currently sold out as of posting but direct linking in case it comes back!)
2026 Temperature Blanket

I have a whole YouTube video for this one! Pattern coming January 2027 – Yarn: Knit Picks Brava (Use Code: AKPSAMB for 15% off!)
Tunisian Crochet Lap Blanket

This is another one made with yarn dyed by my sweet friend Quarter Cakes Yarn, in her Pride Collection, and I cannot and will not stop screaming about how magical this yarn is. And no, this isn’t an affiliate link for Quarter Cakes, I just adore her as a human and she just so happens to be one of the best dyers I have ever worked with.
This pattern will be up soon, it won’t be tested or anything, because it’s pretty much a large rectangle in Tunisian Simple Stitch, so as long as you hit gauge or feel comfy with your tension and wing it you should be fine.
I know I have a few more WIPS in the YouTube video, including my new blanket design I am making for an author I ARC read for, and who is probably one of the strongest humans I know, and I also share my new hobby! Okay, it’s spinning yarn ON AN ELECTRIC WHEEL. Y’all went silly shenanigans and bought me my wheel off of my Throne and I am SO excited to figure it out so I can show you. Thank you again pals <3
Alright, I’m outta here <3 I love you, be safe, stand up for others, and be kind.
I love you
