Hi pals, we’ve got a few things to chat about. No, no – no one is in trouble, this is more so like “what should I do next”, and I really need your feedback.
So I have 4 or 5 patterns that I released through Hobbii over the past few years as I was working in their (now discontinued) creator program, and I got the rights back to them last month. My dilemma is, I no longer work with them, and I really don’t support them after a few things they did to me personally, and then the whole AI thing. (To be clear, AI for helping you organize a to-do list? go for it. Using it to create artwork, patterns, books, art of any sort? absolutely not.)
Which leads me to the part I need feedback on… Do I just publish the patterns as-is on the blog (for free of course), with the PDF option to buy on Rav and call it a day? Or should I re-do them in yarn from an indie dyer I trust? Or reach out to Knit Picks or LB for yarn support and see if they want to work together? I just don’t know what the call is.
Oh, I should probably show you the designs.
First up is Jenny’s Shawl (you can read the blog post about that design here), which is a crochet V-shaped shawl with just enough stitch variation that you don’t get bored.

Second is the Airy Shawl. Another crochet shawl with a quick work up time.

Then we have the Fluidity Skirt, made with mohair held triple, and a prayer that it didn’t tangle. It’s also my first design I used elastic thread in.

And finally the Burning Embers Hooded Vest. This one is my personal favorite out of the bunch, but I am a sucker for a good hood.

I also have a blanket that never made it to print but was approved to publish so I might toss that in too.

So what do you think? I’m leaning towards just posting them and calling it good, but I really think it might be worth the remake with different yarn.. Ugh, this is so frustrating.
Alright pals, that’s all for today. I just wanted to check in and get your thoughts. I love you, stay safe <3
