Hi friends! Today I wanted to share a new thing I want to try and incorporate as often as possible in my blog, sharing another incredible makers pattern!

Today I wanted to talk to you about the Sugar Maple Hat I found on Ravelry last weekend. This is a brim up knit beanie and I really enjoyed seeing my stills actively getting better from the last project as I cast this on. It only took about 6 hours of knitting time (removing all of the snack breaks) and even though that is like 3x the time it takes me to crochet a beanie, I just can’t get enough of the fabric knitting creates.
You can find the pattern here: https://ravel.me/sugar-maple-hat
I followed it almost all the way, but shortened the brim by half and because I didn’t measure or gauge anything, this ended up being 12 inches tall instead of her measurement, but it worked out in my favor because my partner has wonderfully thick hair and this drapes beautifully over it. I also know I knit with very loose tension, so everything always seems to be a bit bigger and I just haven’t really felt the need to change anything to compensate for it yet. (Check back in after I finish my first full size sweater, it will either fit or be 3 sizes too big, either way it will be cozy.)

The yarn I used was Sewrella Yarn from their Hocus Pocus collection in 2020 I believe, and this colorway was called Full Moon. I know that you can see a few errors if you are an experienced knitter, but I think thats one of my favorite parts of anything I make, knowing it won’t be perfect because I refuse to punish myself and frog thousands of stitches to fix one if it won’t change the integrity of the finished product.

Anyway, go check out their pattern and if you end up making one please please please tag me on Instagram or Twitter, I would love to see it and share!
