Thankfully, this is something you all have asked me for since I started doing Facebook lives during the 2020 pandemic. This blanket represents the temperatures of our final year in Michigan, which is super bittersweet because we didn’t know we would be moving when I started it, and it ended up even cozier than expected.
Project Supplies
- 6.5 mm tunisian crochet hook with at least a 25 inch cable and stopper
- Yarn Used: Worsted Weight size 4 Yarn – Knit Picks Brava in the colors Silver, Coral, Avocado, Marina, Mulberry, Caution, and Seraphim
- Yarn Yardage: Total, about 2500 yards of yarn. But per color, this is going to vary greatly depending on your temperatures and how you have it broken down. For myself, I bought 3 skeins of each color and only used about 1 and a half of each, but I am glad I did buy 3 because I got very close with “caution” and I am glad I didn’t have to panic order a single skein of yarn.
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Finished Size
Twin Size Blanket, kind of. I didn’t base this off of a technical blanket size, I just chained until it seemed wide enough and went for it, but if you follow this pattern exactly, it measures out 70 inches long and 48 inches wide. It’s a really cozy oneish person blanket.

Temperature Blanket Specific Notes:
There are a billion ways you can do your temperature blanket, but I knew mine could only have a few colors, and I really needed to be realistic on how much I could crochet each week during the Live streams I used to do. Once I determined I could do 3 rows a week, I picked my 6 colors, and I started off by keeping track of the high/low temp for each day. At the end of the week I would find the highest high and the lowest low and I set my blanket up in this order:
Row 1 – Highest Temp of the Week for both Forward and Return pass.
Row 2 – Forward Pass of Highest Temp of the Week / Return pass with lowest temp of the Week.
Row 3 – Lowest Temp of the week for both Forward and Return pass.

Every 3 months I would add in 3 rows of a “break color” – I used Seraphim for mine – and then I used that same color as my border for the blanket as well.
