Hi pals! Welcome back to the blog! Today I am sharing with you my 2024 December wrap up, which includes all the details for what was made, read, worked on, and wrote in December, as well as what was accomplished over here on SamBartley.com in general!
December was a BUSY hecking month for me. I had a ton of custom orders, a handful of shop orders, a new pattern, a book of all of my 2024 patterns, and I worked A. LOT. So let’s get into what I read on first!

Is She Really Going Out With Him
A fun romcom about a divorced mom who is also a journalist and trying to find her place in the world.
Beg, Borrow, or Steal
My partner kept track, I cried twice, laughed out loud 9 times, and shut the book and covered my mouth while gasping once.
Heartless Heathens
There’s blood, and gore, and more blood, and a knife handle, and a headstone. It’s intense, but I enjoyed it. Read the trigger warnings.
Once Smitten, Twice Shy
The tension, the openness, the slow burn, it was all just so good. Pulled me out of my reading slump for sure.
Murder in the Dressing Room
If you’re looking for a cozy murder mystery following an incredible non-binary drag queen who has watched too many true crime and tv crime shows, this is your book.
Everything I Finished
Sassy Bassy Crochet Fish Hat
This hat was so much fun to make. I found this pattern via a streamer I watch on Twitch, k3lsb3lls, and she designed the Sassy Bassy Fish Hat! It’s a paid pattern, totally worth it, and this ended up being the hit of the white elephant gift exchange at work!
Sunrise Beanie
I did have a few other things to share, but since they were gifts that haven’t been opened yet, I will share those in February <3

Birthday Sweater
Okay so technically, as I am writing this on 12/30, I have just the bind off on the sleeve to-do, which I am recording today, so realistically this should be done before January 1st, BUT, since it’s still technically not finished, it’s going here. (Note from Sam on 1/3/25- it’s done, kinda 😅, still needs its ends weaved it, but its close!)
This is the Flax DK by TinCanKnits, and it’s my birthday sweater, so there will be a post with all the details coming on January 20th! (Yes, it’s a Monday lol)
Jennys Shawl
This is a design I am working on for a friend, and also Hobbii, but it started out as a design for my friend Jenny to celebrate her wedding and marriage to my other good friend Dan. I had already designed and bought the yarn, but on a whim pitched it to Hobbii to see if they wanted to highlight it, and they were totally down! So this pattern will be coming in the spring to you all, but physically to Jenny in January. 🥰
Granny Square Blanket
I’m gonna be honest, this blanket has been the bane of my existence recently. I am halfway done, and need to wrap it up before January 11th, but I just have zero ambition to work on it. I had to tear out 2 rows of squares to re-organize them because I seamed the wrong row together twice. I know a solid LOTR marathon and a weekend of squares will get this baby done, but I need someone to come over and distract me while I crochet lol.
Daydreamer Sock
I am testing some yarn for my friend KnittyKnottyHandDyedYarn, and started my first ever NOT SOS sock pattern. This is the Socks of Daydreamers pattern on Ravelry and so far I am thoroughly obsessed.

We actually had the best year I have ever had blogging, including my last year of “Creating in the Mitten”, where I ended my year with 1,500 blog views, FOR THE YEAR.
This year, this year we blew those numbers out of the water.
