Hi pals! Here is my book review of Butcher & Blackbird. I hope you like it!
Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne WeaverMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I am wildly obsessed with this book.
What is it about? Okay I’m going to do my best not to spoil anything. So there’s this badass named Sloane who is very much so a “me against the world” kinda girl, and there’s this Irish god, I mean chef, named Rowan who swoops in from the shadows to show her she is very much HIS girl.
Like, okay, first things first, I listened to this on audio book so I am going to swoon over that first. THOSE VOICE ACTORS ARE literally the best I have ever heard. Rowan couldn’t have been more perfect, the banter and the spice and the chemistry, like hot damn.
Anyway, if you aren’t an “audio book girly”, you might want to rethink that with this one.
It’s dark, like it’s serial killers of bad guys vs bad guys who are serial killers, so it’s gorey and violent and thriller-esque at times. But it’s also a romantic comedy. I know, it’s wonderful. So if thats something you’re good with, the spice (and it’s spicy) is beautiful, the attention to detail is phenomenal, and the way the duet flows is something I dream of reading again. And I know I mentioned the banter in the audio section, but its actually hilarious. I actually laughed out loud about 20 times, and when “man guy” happened, yall. Just go read/listen/consume this book.
Like, I bought this on audio book, then I ordered the physical copy. I know its only February but this is for sure one of my 2024 favorites.
