I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuistonMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was something else. After reading Red White & Royal Blue, I thought I knew what I was getting into, and I was so so wrong.
Chloe Green is on a mission, and that one mission is to beat Shara Wheeler and be the class valedictorian. The only problem with that is, you can’t beat someone who disappears. While trying to figure out where Shara has gone, Chloe joins forces with some classmates that she wasn’t expecting.
This book was a joy to read. A very light hearted queer love rectangle(?) with mystery and suspense and just enough clever clues to keep you guessing. I thought at first I would be put off by the fact that it’s set in a Christian school, but it’s more there to use it as a setting than a main point of the book.
I also needed to shout out her moms. I absolutely loves Mom and Mama and if Casey wanted to write a book about those two I would be in. :) Rory and Smith are just special to me for so many reasons (I am avoiding spoilers friends, and believe me, I just wanna spill it all), Georgia is a sweetie, and I really didn’t dislike anyone….Well, when you read it you will know the ONE person I can’t stand, but what’s a rom-com without a villain.
If you liked Red White and Royal Blue or One Last Stop try picking this one up. Being 100% honest here, when I started reading it it really took me a few chapters to get into it. I am not sure why, maybe because I was worried about the amount of Christianity in it, and I have some issues with organized religion. But after letting myself get into it, I really really enjoyed I Kissed Shara Wheeler and I really think anyone looking for a cute queer rom-com should check it out.
