Hi pals! Welcome back to the blog! Today we have a new crochet pattern, the Mandala Vest! This pattern was designed last year and was supposed to be released with the company for Pride, but things happened and it didn’t work out. Instead, we get to share it here and I think that’s pretty rad too.
I used Mandala Baby yarn in the color Acre Woods and fell in love the moment I saw it. The way it is a gentle bright rainbow of pinks and yellows, it just spoke to me and I knew it needed some fun texture to really show it off. This pattern features a really fun repeat, and is made a little differently than normally. For a lot of paneled crochet garments, you can just make the front panels and the back panels in whatever order you want. But for the Mandala Vest, it’s made from side to side, you will make one side first, then the back, and then the other side so the color changes in the yarn and the row repeats flow properly. Just be sure to read the entire pattern before you start so you know what’s coming.
Oh, and if you’re looking for another pastel rainbow project, be sure to check out my Kindle Pouch pattern, which is also for free on my blog!

Pattern Notes
- Please read all notes and directions before starting the pattern.
- 30 inch and 35 inch instructions will be written – 30 inch (35 inch)
- The only difference between the lengths is the starting chain, the rest of the directions follow the same way.
- If you want to keep the same Ombre that your yarn cake is showing, be sure to follow the pattern in the order it is laid out, Front Panel, Back, Front Panel.
- This pattern is made up and down instead of horizontal rows. (when looking at the vest straight on.)
- There are no sleeves for this pattern, so when seaming be sure to seam your shoulders first, and then drape the vest over your shoulders and measure where you want the underarm to stop. That’s where you will seam up to, starting at the bottom.
- The gauge is measured in a 5 inch by 4 inch square.
- If you end up with an extra stitch at the end of the row you can either dc 2 stitches together, or just don’t worry about it. Just make the stitch and continue on with the pattern, just making sure to put 2 dc in each ch space, and 2ch immediately after that.
