Project Supplies
- 300 yds 3mm cord or worsted weight cotton
- Size 5.0 mm hook
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
Pattern Notes
- Please read all notes and directions before starting the pattern.
- Chain stitches at the beginning of each round do not count as a stitch.
Abbreviations
All patterns follow the same abbreviations as the Crafty Yarn Council.

Pattern Directions
Hexagon – Make 2
- Round 1 – Make a magic circle and chain 3 (counts as your first stitch). Put 2 dc in the magic circle (3 total).
- Chain 2, make 3 more dc, ch 2, make 3 more dc. Repeat * to * until you have 6 groups of 3 dc. Chain 2 and slip stitch to the top of the first dc (the chain 3 you originally made)
- Round 2 – Chain 3, make 2 dc in the same stitch. In the next chain 2 space make &3dc, ch2, 3dc*. Repeat for each corner until you reach the last one. In the last corner make 3dc, ch2, then slst to the top of the chain 3.
- Round 3 – Ch 3, make 2 dc in the same stitch. In the gap between the two corners, make 3dc. *In the corner make 3dc, ch2, 3dc. In the next space make 3 dc* Repeat * to * around until you reach the final corner. In the final corner make 3 dc, ch2, then slst to the top of the ch 3.
- Round 4 – Ch 3, make 2 dc in the same stitch. In the next two gaps between the two corners, make 3dc in each. *In the corner make 3dc, ch2, 3dc. In the next space make 3 dc, in the next space make 3 dc* Repeat * to * around until you reach the final corner. In the final corner make 3 dc, ch2, then slst to the top of the ch 3.
- Round 5 – Single crochet in each stitch around.
Seaming
Lay the two hexagons with the wrong side facing each other.
Attaching yarn at either corner, single crochet through both hexagons, following the red lines on the photo above.
Straps
For my straps I chained somewhere between 325-350, I lost count on all 3 bags I’ve made so far. I then threaded it through the corners on either side of the opening and tied them together.
With the cord I could use a lighter and melt the ends together, but once you are done be sure to weave in any ends and off you go. :)
